The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) are internationally renowned, and recognised as part of the National Qualifications Framework in the UK.
For Theory at Grades 1-5, exams are held online and can be taken from your own home, or (limited to one candidate per exam sitting) in my home studio. For Online Performance, we make a video recording of your performance that is then submitted online for assessment. These videos can be made in your own home, or in our studios during your lesson time, or in a separate dedicated time slot (charged at the standard lesson rate). For Live Practical examinations, we host our own exams at our Stirchley studio in July, and in the Autumn and Spring terms we use the local public exam centre in Moseley.
Additional accompanist fees for students who need a piano accompaniment for their live or online practical exam are charged at £18 for Initial/Grade 1, £23 for Grades 2-3, £28 for Grades 4-5, £33 for Grades 6-7, and £45 for Grade 8 and ARSM. Rehearsal fees for your accompanist (if they are not your regular tutor) are charged at £20 per hour, pro rata.

ABRSM Live Practical exams are booked via their online calendar, meaning that we will know the day of your exam as soon as we book. The time of your appointment is confirmed later, once the exam board have organised all the bookings for that day into a sensible order. It is not possible to request a specific time for your exam. Schools are usually very accommodating in terms of allowing students an authorised absence so they can attend their exam if it falls during school hours. Exam dates are booked subject to availability, which means that I will generally be processing entries for practical exams on the first day of the booking windows shown below, to get the widest choice possible. Entries later in the booking window can still be made, but students should be aware that the choice of dates may be limited.
Please be aware that once booked, exam appointments cannot always be rescheduled. Exam fees are not refundable if a candidate does not attend their allocated appointment, except in documented mitigating circumstances.
