New for 2017:

I am excited to be able to offer online learning options for piano, flute and theory. Wherever you are, and whatever you want to achieve, I can help!

Online Instrumental Lessons by Skype or FaceTime

You can book individual Skype or FaceTime lessons on an ad hoc basis via the booking portal below. Bookings can be made up to six weeks in advance, subject to availability. Appointments can be rescheduled or cancelled online with at least 24h notice, and there is no minimum number of lessons required. Ad hoc lessons can only be booked online, and must be paid for by credit or debit card at the time of booking to secure your place.image

You can have regular lessons online too! Simply get in touch to book your regular weekly slot with me, and you’ll get exactly the same service and options as my in-person students. Everything from your free consultation lesson, to contracts and payment, to exam entries can be conducted online! Fees are just the same as if you were attending lessons in person, so take a look at the options here.

Online Learning FAQs

What equipment do I need, and how do I set it up?

You will need a computer/laptop, tablet or smartphone equipped with a broadband internet connection (or very strong, reliable 4G signal) and a Skype account (it’s free, a paid SkypeOut account isn’t needed), or FaceTime app. Please ensure your device is fully charged or plugged in before we start! For Piano and Flute students, you will need your instrument, and any music you are using. You should ideally have a quiet room where you won’t be disturbed by other people, the TV or other distractions. Make sure that your camera and microphone are enabled, and position your screen so that I have a clear view of you, including your hands, and you can comfortably see me.

Are lessons recorded?

I will not record online lessons, except in special circumstances and with written consent from the student and/or their parent. I ask that you do not record lessons without first gaining my consent, and any sharing of lesson recordings in part or whole anywhere online is expressly forbidden.

What records are kept?

I will write a brief summary of each lesson, including anything I would like you to practice, which will be forwarded by email as soon as possible after your lesson. I will also log the exact time that the lesson begins and ends, as well as any interruptions due to signal/technical issues.

What happens if I have technical problems?

I am pretty tech savvy, but I’m not an IT specialist so cannot promise to be able to help with any issues at your end. If more than 50% of a lesson is severely impacted by technical issues such as poor signal, lag or similar problems out of our control, an appointment can be made to catch up at no further cost.
