Please note: you do not have to be currently taking lessons with me to register for an Aural Course, they are open to all! If you haven’t had lessons with me before, I’ll need to have a quick chat with you (usually by email) to find out a bit about your background before we get started, but feel free to book your place straight away! Please ensure that your instrumental teacher is in agreement with you receiving aural training outside of your lessons with them.

Whilst aural training is something that is inherent to all our instrumental lessons, these one-to-one or group courses are designed to cover the syllabus for each ABRSM Grade Exam’s Aural Test in just a few days of dedicated lessons, giving you the skill and experience to tackle that part of your practical exam with confidence, and freeing up more time in your regular lessons for other practical work.

I offer courses for Grades 1 to 8 during school holiday periods. The half-term breaks usually line up nicely with the start of the exam period each term, so a February course is ideal for a student taking an exam in March, for example. Lesson times are flexible – just book in the number of sessions required for the grade you wish to take, spread out over 3 to 5 days. Sessions are bookable via my online calendar, and are subject to availability, so make sure you book early to ensure you get the times you want!

Grade 1:                  3 x 20m (30m for shared courses)      £30
Grade 2:                  4 x 20m (30m for shared courses)      £40
Grade 3:                  5 x 20m (30m for shared courses)      £50
Grade 4 or 5:          5 x 30m (45m for shared courses)      £75
Grade 6, 7 or 8:      5 x 45m (60m for shared courses)      £100
Any Grade:             One-off 20m Practice Session              £11
..                               One-off Mock Test with Report           £15

Course Fees are payable in full on booking the first session. Your fee includes one-to-one or small-group (no more than three students) tuition covering the whole syllabus for the grade, a Mock Test with a written report, plus tips for practicing further at home. If you feel you don’t need a whole course, but want to book an individual practice session, or Mock Test, those are available as one-off bookings.

“Buddy Up” with a friend or sibling taking the same course – attend shared lessons together and you’ll get extra time at no additional cost! Maximum of three students sharing.

Cancellations of the full course with less than one week’s notice, or missed sessions once the course has begun, are non-refundable. Sessions may be rescheduled in mitigating circumstances, and subject to availability.

I recommend that each Grade is covered in sequence; in order to get the most out of the Grade 5 Course, for example, students should have previously completed the work for Grades 1-4 (with or without sitting the exam).
